After completing residencies in Internal Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology (1986-1991) at the University of Louisville, during which he received specific instruction in ultrasound technology, Dr. Tidwell completed a Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship at Boston University. In practice since 1992, his entire medical career has continued to focus on the vascular system, correcting irregularities such as blockages in the kidney, liver, or arteries non-surgically. Using minimally invasive, image-guided techniques that involve a minimal incision and a guide wire and catheter, Dr. Tidwell is the go-to physician at the hospital when surgery is either inappropriate or not an option.
Dr. Tidwell founded Medicus Veincare in Jupiter, Florida to offer varicose and spider vein patients expert diagnosis, care and treatment that is unsurpassed in the palm beach and treasure coast areas. His patients appreciate his ability to accurately diagnose the treatment needed through ultrasound technology, as well as his years of expertise in vein treatment. These unique qualifications allow Dr. Tidwell to succeed in treating even the most difficult of varicose vein cases.
Steven Tidwell, M.D. is certified with the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the American College of Radiology, the American College of Phlebology, the Society of Interventional Radiology, and the Florida Radiologic society.
Heidi Garguilo, DNP
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, Doctor of Nursing Practice

Board certified nurse practitioner Heidi Garguilo was personally known to Dr. Tidwell from her years of assisting him in patient care in a hospital setting as a vascular/special procedures nurse. She received her Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from the University of Florida, her masters in science in nursing (MSN) from Florida Atlantic University, and her Doctor of Nursing (DNP) from the University of Florida. Ms. Garguilo is nationally certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, accredited as an FNP-BC.
Ms. Garguilo recently became certified as a Registered Vascular Technologist, supplementing Dr. Tidwell’s expertise in the ultrasound diagnosis of varicose veins.
